Why are there Spiders Always in the Yard?

Maybe you’re wondering why there are so many spiders in your yard. What could be attracting them?

Sadly, there are two reasons why spiders will never be totally eliminated:

  • Floating or flying baby spiders
  • Using the “your house is theirs” principle

1. Floating or flying baby spiders

After hatching, baby spiders are lightweight and will often float on water. This is why you may find them near the river, sink, or in your bathtub!

  • The baby spiders will float for numerous miles, and even across oceans to be deposited in other locations.
  • You can never eliminate spiders on your property, as they will always be carried by the wind.

This is just one reason why these floating babies are so dangerous; because once they do grow into adults, they’re hard to kill as well!

2. “Your house is theirs” Principle

The Mi casa Su casa principle is almost like a golden rule for spiders. It’s basically the idea that your home belongs to them, so they’ll never leave!

The Mi casa Su casa principle also explains why you may find webbing throughout your house; because it serves as an extra security measure and protects their territory.

Spider webs protect the spider from predators, and the sticky silk serves as a trap for prey.

It’s always best to keep an eye out for these little buggers; because they’ll do whatever it takes to survive!

However, if you’re lucky enough to catch one of them in your home before they grow into adults-you can kill spiders by swatting or dropping them into a container of soapy water.

  • They reproduce quickly. The female spider can produce up to 6 egg sacs per month, and they release from 150 – 400 eggs in each sac.
  • Their population is constantly changing. It commonly fluctuates when it’s actively breeding season, due to weather changes or other environmental

What’s the Best Outdoor Pesticide or Spray for Spiders?

The best pesticide for outdoor spider control is one that has a long-term residual effect and good sticking power.

The pesticide for outdoor spider control must resist fast breaking down caused by environmental stresses such as wind, rain, and sun. But also, for the outdoor spider treatment, you may use a spray with a more pungent smell.

  • This is why a pesticide with an insect growth regulator, such as Cyfluthrin or Permethrin (Perma-Guard), is commonly used.

The EPA only mandates through legislation the use of pesticides or sprays that’ll take about 90 days before fully bio-degrading to zero.

However, some pesticides like termiticides may remain on the outdoor spaces where they’re applied – unlike other pest control products.

Most professional exterminators advise quarterly treatments for customers to curb spider activity.

What’s the Best Indoor Pesticide or Spray for Spiders?

Indoor spider pesticides should not have a strong odor that may cause nasal irritation or sneezing.

Therefore;

Don’t use wettable powders such as Demon WP for indoor spider control – the dried powders will leave some white residue on your surfaces.

The best indoor pesticide or spray for spiders is a water-based product that’s less likely to cause respiratory problems.

An effective spider killer indoors is Gentrol IGR, which can be sprayed on the spider-infested surfaces where you see spiders crawling.

This pest control chemical must be applied once per year and it’ll prevent new eggs from hatching including for the Hobo Spiders.

1. Southern Ag-10401 Spider Killing Concentrate (Natural Pyrethrin)

  • Exterminates many insects or spiders at a go
  • Won’t kill butterflies and bees

Southern Ag-10401 Spider Killing Concentrate is a natural Pyrethrin-based insecticide that can be used against spiders, scorpions, and other insects.

This concentrated product offers about three months of control for broadcast spraying outdoors or in the home.

The spray has an EPA registration for outdoor spider control and offers knockdown that’s very fast. It also works well on scorpions.

It’s a non-repellent insecticide that is odorless and light in color, which allows it to be mixed with other pest control products.

This is the most effective, least expensive solution on the market. This product is going to deliver approximately 20 quarts of mixed spray for every 8 ounces of concentrate.

Using a concentrate saves time and money. This chrysanthemum-made spider killer is an organic alternative to most bug killers made with harsh chemicals.

It is biodegradable and also water-soluble and thus a safe alternative compared to chemical pesticides. Pyrethrin kills spiders by disrupting their neurological function, so the process is painless and very quick.

Cyzmic-CS is our preferred option for indoor spider control but it can also be used for outdoor bug extermination.

The pesticide has bee-killing micro-encapsulated with different sizes allowing the release of the pesticide at different times (smaller first and then larger breaks down later) – this is within 90 days.

Cyzmic-CS Insecticide will kill troublesome insects including mosquitoes, cockroaches, ants, bees, and spiders as it has great insecticide scope for action – mainly indoor action.

The Lambda-Cyhalothrin ingredient is long-lasting and it kills spiders through residual, enteric, and contact action. It also limits the interaction between those living in the space and the applicator when applied.

Cyper-TC is a similar product to the popular Demon TC, but it costs less. Cyper-TC is an insecticide that has 25.3% cypermethrin in it to prevent termite and spider infestations around buildings.

It also works with many other insects too and can be used as a barrier against them too. The 25.3% Cypermethrin pyrethroid is excellent for outdoor use – also since it has a strong smell.

After I sprayed the garage and perimeter of my house for spiders and ants with Cyper-TC. The cypermethrin great as flies and spiders began to drop on the treated areas.

I have to admit, I’m not an expert. But I am noticing that as the praying mantis and birds sense what attracts the bugs, they are avoiding food items left on my porch.
